Results of the implementation of the 1st year of the project by subcontractors of the GF grant in Nur-Sultan

On February 1, KSCDIZ and the implementation team of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria held a working meeting to discuss successes, problems and ways to solve them with NGO "Step into the Future", "Human Health Institute", NGO "Life in spite of" and the AIDS Center Nur-Sultan.

 

A. Turymova from the NGO “Step into the Future” said that the organization has 10 outreach workers, all of them PWID. Over the past year, 903 PWID were covered by the professional program, 789 were tested (84% of the coverage), 8 new cases of HIV among PWID were detected at the NGO base.NGO employees need training.

 

The head of the NGO Human Health Institute A. Kapasov noted that 14 outreaches are actively working in the public organization: 12 with MSM, 2 with trans people. 907 MSM were covered by the professional program, 745 were tested (82% of the coverage), 14 new cases of HIV among MSM were detected at the NGO base, 8 people were referred for PrEP. He proposed to intensify work with the deputies of the Parliament, as well as to popularize the need for activists to join public councils of various levels.A. Mukusheva from the Public Foundation "Life in spite of" also spoke about the activities of the organization over the past year. Seven outreaches reached 663 people living with HIV with peer work, which is higher than expected. Self-help groups successfully operate in the fund. Consultations are received, including discordant couples, close circle, women with HIV who have become mothers.- Thanks to the GF, this year we will have a psychologist. For us it is very important. A lawyer from the AIDS Center helps to resolve legal issues, - A. Mukusheva emphasized.S. Musina, Deputy Chief Physician of the Nur-Sultan AIDS Center, spoke warmly about the activities of the NGO.- These are our main assistants. We have transferred important functions to them. And many of our indicators are largely the merit of non-governmental organizations.
