Online seminar with teachers was held in the Akmola region

On November 20, 2020, on the Zoom platform, a seminar was held with deputy directors for educational work of schools and colleges, methodologists of district education departments on the topic "Topical issues of HIV and drug addiction prevention in the education system in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic", which was initiated by the Akmola regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and is dedicated to World AIDS Day.

The event was moderated by Kira Tsunevskaya, a specialist of the educational work department of the Akmola oblast department of education, and the seminars were moderated by the senior operational officer of the DPF RaziyaKursanova, specialist of the AIDS center's prevention department NurlybekKonuspayev and psychologist of the healthy lifestyle center EsetKussieva. They discussed the topic of preventing HIV infection and drug addiction in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in the education system of the region.

At the same time, it was especially noted that, despite the fact that the coronavirus has made its undesirable adjustments in our lives, all citizens need to show social responsibility, both to themselves and to society as a whole, since international solidarity and shared responsibility require us to rethink the activities of international health systems, including the AIDS response.

According to N. Konuspayev, 4 schoolchildren and 11 students of colleges and universities with HIV-positive status are registered cumulatively in the region, which of course requires teachers to be highly aware of the transmission routes and measures of HIV prevention, since the low level of knowledge in this matter promotes discrimination against people living with HIV.

RaziyaKursanova spoke about modern synthetic drugs that have recently come into circulation among drug addicts, as well as about some legal aspects of the republic's legislation, and a psychologist from the healthy lifestyle center shared about the mechanisms for organizing preventive work in the education system in a pandemic.
